I ran through the airport in Abu Dhabi and made my flight. Stood in line gave them my ticket and they said I wasnt on the flight and I had to go to the help desk and figure it out. So I go to the line and its crazy long. There are 2 people helping about 300 and its chaos. Anyway I wait and wait and wait and people are screaming and everyone Is missing connecting flights...Fast forward 5 hours later Im told theres no way Im making it to Perth for my NYE gig and Im so mad and frustrated. Im told my next flight leaves from Dubai in the morning so I gotta get my luggage and take a bus. While Im waiting alone for my bag in baggage claim this older guy walks over and I recognize him from check in at LAX, we say hello and I ask if he missed his flight as well and he says yes. He looks crazy frustrated too. He sits down next to me and right when Im about to tell him how screwed up this is and about missing my show he tells me his brother died and hes gonna miss his funeral in New Delhi. Hes hoping his dad will keep him in a refrigerator so he can say goodbye before they bury him then he whips out his phone and shows me a picture of his dead brother. (Like after he died dead brother...) Without thinking I grab his arm say Im sorry man and just exhale. I have tears in my eyes and he starts to cry then I do and its us in this empty baggage claim in the Abu Dhabi airport holding on to each other. Man...Perspective. Now Im here alone and not sure what to do with myself except breathe. Give thanks yall. give thanks for all the good you have. Sending love from here.
