I rarely post petitions on Facebook, but this one really got to me. Ohios secretary of state put restrictions on voting that will disproportionately depress voter turnout among the poor, the folks with multiple jobs and little free time, and racial minorities. Our U.S. Supreme Court upheld these horrible restrictions. Reversing this decision would be a huge miracle, but at the very least, Ohios secretary of state should submit to a debate about his horrid actions. (In case you forgot -- the 2004 presidential election was won nationwide, thanks to Ohio tipping to the Republicans, by their rigging the election procedures to make it more difficult for people to vote in heavily Democratic precincts.) I truly believe that a reformed Republican party could be more broadly popular. It would take a few miracles to oust the racists and 1%-ers from positions of influence, but the Republican emphasis on efficiency and accountability -- well, these days you have to be over 50 to even remember those days -- would have broad appeal. But in the meantime -- NO PARTY deserves to win elections by rigging the vote. That is soooooo North Korean.
