I read a few articles from Jeffery Tucker and Robert Murphy on the topic of quarantine and whether or not the government should have the ability to quarantine people. They obviously were against it, Murphy went so far as to say, If the government relinquished its role in handling contagious diseases, the public would be far safer. Personally, I think the idea that the government shouldnt have the power to quarantine people or react to outbreaks of disease is kind of odd. I certainly disagree with it and I dont think people with highly infectious and deadly diseases should be permitted to go out in public and put others at risk of infection. However, Im open to changing my mind if someone can make a good argument against government enforced quarantine. What do you all think of the matter? Should governments be able to quarantine individuals with highly infectious and deadly disease? Murphys article: mises.org/daily/2635/
