I read about this years ago. The Japanese targeted the fire trucks and other infrastructure knowing if they were out of action, they would not be able to put the fires out. Another interesting story is the one about the water tower in the housing area of Hickam. There is a water tower along the inlet to Pearl on Hickam. It is incased in a stone structure that is square. Doesnt look like a typical water tower. I was told that the Japanese did not destroy this tower thinking it was a religious structure. It was one of the main water sources for Hickam.
