I read the post and think how hard it is. I too am a mom of a severly disabled son. He is and has been G tube fed since birth. He requires 24/7 care. He can not take care of any personnel needs. He has lost sight in one eye and is slowly losing his hearing. He is severly retarded and has very little communication skills. I take care of him (alone no outside help). I consider myself the oldest stay at home mom around. You see my son is 34 yrs old. I am still mommy..he can say that. He can walk and is tiolet trained. I decided the day he was born that I was a mom first. I had 3 more sons, 28 yr old has klienfelters synd. a 24 yr old with marfins (he has a degree in chemistry-physics & math) and a 20 yr old that is all male and will be the death of me. I have been married for 41 yrs. I would be lying if I said it was easy. Its been different. I have found laughter my best medicine. I wouldnt change a thing or give up..ever. I found over the years I knew my son better than any doctor or book said. All of you young moms..there is a lot of good times, surround yourself with people who understand. And above all laugh it couldnt hurt. Debbie
