I read this headline/and article. I never went to the Twitter as I know how hurricanes do their damage. But, I was curious about where do people choose to live and why is this called a Superstorm, so I started my quest for some facts. Fact one, why do you suppose this is called Breezy Point? Could it be a clue that the wind might possibly due to some damage there? Fact two, the elevations is seven feet. Do you suppose it would take much of a storm surge to inundate seven feet elevation at high tide? (Katrinas storm surge was 32 feet.) Fact three, look at picture below. H-m-m, geez, almost looks like an island in the ocean with beaches all around it, doesnt it? Duh? Fact four, they say they are rebuilding, so do you think another storm might do the very same thing? You do? Then that leads me to fact five, why are they (you?) rebuilding there, AND expect taxpayers to give them loans, sell them insurance (private or goober-mint, i.e. taxpayer subsidized) or replace their property, and rebuild their infrastructure? Hey, we feel your pain, but is this really a good plan? This is not a surprise people, and thats a fact. You wanna live there. Fine. If I wanted to live there and got smacked by a storm, Id be too embarrassed and ashamed to blame other folks for my decision. But, hey, thats just me, and I am just a grumpy old man.
