I read with great interest in the 09/05/2013 issue of the Spooner Advocate about the Town of Spooner Memorial Park. I had never heard of this park even though the land had been donated in 1930 for a memorial park to the town of Spooner veterans. In early 1959 Spooner adapted the name. Since I have been gone from the Spooner area over 50 years it is understandable I would not remember the park. It appears from the article the park, unknown to exist by most, is in disrepair and decay. I then saw a picture in the 09/12/2013 issue of the Spooner Advocate of a group of volunteers, veterans and friends had spent 09/08 debris clearing. Pleased to see my great nephew, Caleb Pocernich, was in the group. Does anyone know if there are plans for contributions to help with the renovation? I understand the no funds are authorized by the town board.
