I realized today what a brilliant man my fifth grandfather - TopicsExpress

I realized today what a brilliant man my fifth grandfather Frederick James Beverly was. He knew his peoples records and their history was being destroyed by the state of Virginia, so he like his ancestors before named his children after their ancestors in a pattern that continued in the family for more than two hundred years. I know exactly who his parents are now because of the names he passed to his children, a code of names. Its a code that leads all the way back to Jamestown and Pocahontas and her husband John Rolfe. A code the Beverly family uses to this day. I got it grandfather. They tried to erase our records, then when they couldnt change the history books, they tried to prevent us from learning to read. Frederick James Beverly was the son of William Beverly. William and his two sons Frederick James and Samuel were guest of the Impress Josephine for several days. Meeting Josephine must have made quite an impression on Fredrick James, after his fathers death in Paris in 1820, when he came to Virginia to settle in Amherst, he named his daughters Frances Josephine and Margaret Josephine, after their ancestors and the Impress of France. He was returning home to the land his ancestors had lived and fought on for over two hundred years.
