I really dont have any heroes, but if I did, Mu Sochua would be one of them. I have known her, I realized just now, for 30 years, during which she has been an uninterrupted advocate for the rights of the powerless--particularly but not limited to women-- under extraordinary and daunting obstacles, a couple of wars, numerous elections, more than one coup détat, and umpteen threats of prison and worse. I admit to being cynical when she joined tainted political parties to access a platform from which her voice could be heard. But I was wrong. She has never wavered in her message and Cambodia, and the world, would be far better off with many more Mu Sochuas (and her Norman Rockwellesqe-with-an-edge family:))
