I really have to get this off of my chest. Sometimes Divine 9 Greeks really irk my soul. I have respect for all of the organizations, enough respect that I chose one and joined. However, the over saturation of it has gotten ridiculous. You have people who are willing to risk their freedom, something our predecessors fought for, all for the credibility of saying that you or your neos had a real pledge process. Some people havent put an hour of work in after their probate, but are quick to jump in line for strolls, hold trophies after step shows, and take pictures with their naila on and hand signs up high. People want to call out members of their own organizations on not knowing information about Invictus, but cant tell you 10 facts about William Ernest Henley. People who wouldnt have dared said something derogatory about another organization when they were solo, but want to start fist fights with other frats and sororities now that they have ten plus people backing them. Its cool to take pride in your own organization, but to put down another outside of fun and competition, solely for the purpose of bashing and trying to improve your own self esteem is shameful. So many people go over and only have their organization to identify with, and have no real persona or identity of their own. People say they wanted to join because they want a network full of brothers/sister across the world, but will not speak to a fellow member in an airport because theyre not from your chapter. I still love it, dont question or mistake that, but do know that I have my reservations about people who have no true intent of carrying out the mission of social justice, social and economic progression, personal and cultural development, etc. People putting down non Greeks when they were non Greek way longer than they ever was Greek. It is sickening. This is something that I have observed beyond the AUC. People forget so easily. We are all flawed but some of this behavior is uncalled for and someone has to call these people on it. Anywho, shout out to all of the people whos hearts are in the right places.
