I really hope that our MLA in Dadyal Mohammad Afsar Shahid saab will take action against the policeman who swore at and slapped a man in Dadyal bazaar today. This kind of shameful act is not something youd expect to see in a peaceful place such as Dadyal where there is mutual respect between all segments of society. This policeman has not just slapped a poor man but he has slapped the whole of Dadyal, every single one of us. He has slapped the values that we stand for and we must make him pay the price for this ridiculous act which is shameful for an animal, let alone for a Muslim. The man who was slapped may have been in the wrong (we dont know) but the point is that this is no way for an officer to behave in public. In the bazaar, there are women and children and this kind of behaviour and use of filthy language is simply unacceptable and something we will not tolerate. If we dont take a stance against this today then tomorrow it could be our brother, our father, our uncle that is disrespected by the Police in this manner. In fact, we are all Muslims, therefore he is our brother and just as we are hurt when our Palestinian brothers and sisters are in pain, we hold the same sentiments on this occasion. Last time I was in Dadyal, there was an incident in which a poor man was beaten up in front of his kids. I did whatever I could to help him and the MLA offered his full support on that occasion, as well as Ch Aftab saab who also helped out. The MLA discussed the matter with me in person and also called the police station to ensure that the case was dealt with properly. During the meeting, the MLA asked the senior police officer to leave the room so that I could share my complaint at the time. I am expecting the MLA to punish this policeman because I know he does not approve of this kind of behaviour at all and it is one of the reasons he gave me in a Q&A session when he explained why he joined politics - to put an end to this kind of activity. The positive side is that the people have taken a stance and this video has definitely gone viral and everybody is putting pressure on the authorities to take appropriate action. Afsar Shahid saab aap ne kaha tha ke main thaanay ka haal dekh kar siyaasat main aaya, aap ne kaha ke main Kashmir ko azaad karnay ka sochta tha phir ek din aisa hua ke main apnay thaanay main kisi ki madat naa kar paaya aur yeh khayal aaya ke Kashmir azad karna to door ki baat hai pehlay iss mahol ko tabdeel karna parega aur iss wajah se aap ne siyasat main aanay ka faisla kiya.... Shahid saab aap ki haqumat chal rahi hai aur iss tarah se ek policewalay ne ek ghareeb ko zaleel kiya hai aur yeh thapar hum sab ko laga hai....sirf uss ek ko nahin...umeed hai ke aap zarur kuch karenge...
