I received a nice email from my daughter Kristie G yesterday, she had to write an essay on her fondest childhood memory and she titled hers Moving With My Father. I have read it a couple times and want to share my favorite parts. I remember this all like it was yesterday. Love you sweetheart! One day when he was driving me back home to my mother’s house, in Bangor, Pennsylvania, I turned to him and said, “Dad, I want to live with you.” So he sat down with my mother and I and talked about the whole thing. She agreed. I was so extremely happy. On the last day of school in third grade my dad was waiting for me when I got off the school bus. I had the biggest smile on my face. After we left he took me straight to dorney park. That summer was the best summer of my life. He got us season passes to dorney park. We went faithfully every other week. Sometime 3-4 times a week. We also went bike riding together. Long bike rides through the trees. Just my dad and I talking about the little things in life and enjoying our time together. We went bowling a lot that summer as well. I might not have been the best at bowling, but I was always a good sport. One of my favorite things to do with my father has to be throwing on a pair of roller blades and playing some hockey. We would load up the car with all the hockey equipment, turn the radio on to 99.9 and sing the whole way there.
