I recently joined my towns Facebook page to find a mechanic. Instead I was met with post after post after post, looking for people to buy red and blue ribbons in support of the local fire dept and PD. From what I can gather, the outpouring of support is due to the depts responding to a dozen car accidents from bad weather (which included one death) and someone being hit by a train last week. The support posts far outnumber the ones showing support for the families and victims, and residents are threatening to boycott local businesses that dont fly the ribbons. Theyre also verbally attacking and demonizing other residents who arent flying the ribbons - while under the guise of coming together as a commmunity - even though the money for the ribbons isnt even going to the police and fire. You guys, I literally cant even.
