I recently went on a journey to discover my family tree. I - TopicsExpress

I recently went on a journey to discover my family tree. I gathered my parents photos, lists, documents and keepsakes to start the process. My Aunt Harriet did quite a bit of work so I had a good foundation. I went on Ancestry and I took advantage of their free trial. I made the most of that time to interact with North American relatives who helped fill in some of the blanks. There is also a free site that the Mormon church maintains and it has vital information such as birth, baptism, marriage and death dates. On my mothers side of the family there were soldiers in the Revolutionary war and ship builders in Maine. On my fathers side of the family there were settlers in Quebec and bridge builders. Both branches ultimately led back to the British Isles. The industrial city of Glasgow, Scotland was a magnet for sustaining work at the time. The trail went cold there. Perhaps my ancestors were farmers in the Lowlands of Scotland which is South East of Glasgow. Do you know your family tree? Check out the television show Who Do You Think You Are on The Learning Channel. Dont forget the state or city historical society for information and tips. Aunt Harriet and Uncle John are pictured. Be like this curious cat and explore!
