I recently wrote an article titled What lessons should we learn from President Joyce Banda which will be published on my column in Rise &Shine newspaper and Malawis Nyasa Times ( print &electronic medium in Malawi). Here is one paragraph from the article....... .....The greatest lesson for me, one I think we ought to stand and applaud President Banda for is her willingness to try. Wether she returns to office or not, she has been able to rise to the occasion and act decisively against corruption. This is one major problem in African, a challenge which has delayed the continent from developing. Good governance is crippled by corruption, corruption from politicians and Banda addressed this in her own country. If this act is the one which might have caused her to be alienated and created a platform for her comrades to unite against her, then it is fine. She must know that there are those in Africa who look at her with envy, we envy her courage to act when it was necessary. She will go down in history as the former head of state who fired the entire cabinet over corruption scandals. This is a very good legacy she will leave in office. We will continue to use her as reference and encourage other leaders to act even if it means running the risk of losing power.....
