I remember in college my history tweed jacket wearing professor - TopicsExpress

I remember in college my history tweed jacket wearing professor went in genealogical tirade. He boasted about his Scottish and Welsh ancestry. He went around the class for participation on their families histories. Quite a few raised their hands. There were descendants of Alamo Heroes, the Mayflower, and Huguenots. I had nothing to share. I had family stories some Spanish Sephardic words, but nothing definitive. I was just another Latino in the room. I remained silent. That was about 30 years ago. Three years I ago I sought out my family lineage on Ancestry. I searched linked posted then one eventful day posted on a blog, which connected me with a distant cousin who had done so much work, solved the puzzle, connected all the dots. Two years later now, I wish I was in that history class to tell them of my family heritage, it can be traced to cathedrals and church documents in Mexico City, Burgos Spain, Florence Italy, Syria, Cyprus, and Medieval Jerusalem. I invite you all to explore your families heritage. Interview your moms, your grandmothers, your great grandmothers, if your still have them. Find your heritage because you have to know you came from to know know where your going to.
