I remember once while working in Washington were I usually worked - TopicsExpress

I remember once while working in Washington were I usually worked 10 to 12 hours a day. I decided to go home early for a change and I took a route that I rarely used. Something seemed to be guiding me, and I followed. I was about half way home when I crossed a busy railroad crossing. As I crossed the tracks, I noticed a car stuck on the tracks. I turned around, pulled over and went to see if I could help. I found a little old lady sitting in the car not knowing what to do. She explained that the car would not move forward or backward because the wheels were of of the ground. The car was stuck, with the undercarriage setting on the rails. I escorted the little lady away from the car and away from harms way. I called 911 and the railroad office to report the incident and I waited. When no one arrived, the little lady wanted zealously to attempt to move the car again. I couldnt allow her to do so, so I told her I would try. However, try as I may, nothing would move the car. Until I tired a rope to her car and my small pick up truck. It took numerous hearty attempts to finally dislodge the vehicle and clear the tracks. Then I drive the little lady to her home. You see, she lived in an upscale mobile home park adjacent to the tracks. So when she thought that she was turning into her street, she had inadvertently turned too soon, and drove down the tracks until the car became stuck. No one ever arrived to help, no other passersby stopped to help. It was just she and I. After leaving her at her home, I walked back to my truck and watched the train barrel down the track right where her car had been. I believe that God used me that day to help a stranger, in a strange place, at an unusual time, in a dangerous situation. Im glad He did, because no one else seemed to notice, no one else seemed to care. A near disaster was averted, she made it home safely, and I was on time for dinner.
