I remember thinking that I needed to take BTT to a campus years - TopicsExpress

I remember thinking that I needed to take BTT to a campus years ago. It made sense then and still does. To be in the midst of young, intelligent, and creative minds would be a treasure to behold. I’m not opposed to traditional open mic venues, I just know that my purpose is better served taking a route that meshes with higher education. I don’t always know why I am led in certain directions. I just know to follow my instincts. They led me to approach Shaw University about a partnership because it is only fitting that BTT take place in the midst of rich African American history, as it pertains to the advancement of thinkers. I have a very strong sense of my culture and I recognize that a consistent positive Black movement in Raleigh, NC is needed. The fact that the movements base is Estey Hall....the first building constructed for the higher education of black women in the United States…the oldest surviving building of Shaw University….the first institutionalized effort to educate former slaves after the Civil War…..THAT is powerful within itself. Breathe to Think is humbled and honored to partner with Shaw University in its efforts to advance art, cultural awareness, and the entrepreneur spirit in the state in the North Carolina.” Mills responded when asked where the notion to partner came from.
