I remember when I was 7 yrs old and in second grade and my Mom Zenan Huffman transferred from community college to the University of Alabama. My Mother was raising me by herself. I remember her sitting me down and trying to explain that I was going to live with my grandparents for two yrs while she finished her degree. She told me we would have a better life once she graduated and that during the two yrs she would come home every weekend. I begged her to take me. My grandparents lived over an hour from Tuscaloosa. Every weekend for six weeks I cried and begged to go with her. I told her I would be good! Every weekend when she left we both cried. Well after six weeks guess who packed up her barbies and moved ? While my mom studied for finals I would sit on the bed in our 1 bedroom apartment and play Barbies quietly. It was one of the hardest but best decisions my Mom ever made for me. I wouldnt trade anything now for those memories with her. God always makes a way :) it was hard because she missed out on the usual campus life but we had our own.
