I returned and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift nor the battle to the strong, neither is bread to the wise nor riches to men of intelligence and understanding nor favor to men of skill; time and chance happen to them all (Eccles. 9:11). This eternal truth is further re-emphasized in Rom. 9:16, So then Gods gift is not a question of human will and human effort, but of Gods mercy. It depends not on oness willingness nor his strenuous exertion as in running a race, but on Gods having mercy on him. David in one of his the Psalms chapter 33:16-17, reminds us that a horse in a vain thing to stay, and a king cannot be delivered by the multitude of a host. Grace takes the claim from man and offers the glory to God. God must be seen as the one working through us to accomplish His purpose. The horses are only a conduit of His mercy. When God gives us wealth, it is that through such resources we may accomplish His divine agenda. Without God showing mercy, there is nothing we can do. Jesus warned His disciples, Without me you can do nothing John15:5. May The Lord help you to appreciate His mercy towards you and what He is accomplishing through your life. May God remove from you every particle of pride for a God resist the proud and gives grace to the humble!
