I saw Transformers: Age of a Extinction on Monday, and I still - TopicsExpress

I saw Transformers: Age of a Extinction on Monday, and I still cant get over some things I saw in it. In case of spoilers, Ill do these: ~\~\~ to indicate that- ANYWAY: Giving the characters souls and a lot more personality was a plus for me. The last three movies lacked in that department. As some of you may or may NOT know, Lockdown, the bounty hunter sent to retrieve whatever Autobots he can find and give them to the government, but Optimus Prime is his goal-originated from the Transformers: Animated era. Lockdown has also shown up in one of the recent comics storylines of Transformers: More than Meets the Eye (MTMTE). Before I go on another tangent, I do like the majority of the new designs the surviving Autobots received, as well as the designs for the new cast members. One HUGE qualm about the movie was the writing itself. It was juvenile-not as bad as Revenge of the Fallen, but oh GOD some lines could have been omitted- Show, Not Tell is also a concept Im trying to practice with myself in my own story writing, but it is difficult. In addition to that, one Transformers random monologue in the final battle, could have been omitted. It made the scenes feel forced . . . ~\~\~ The death of the Autobots medic, Ratchet, also brought out something the previous movies failed to do-to give the Autobots an emotional reaction to a dear friends death. They became sad, angry, to a point where even Optimus says, Whoever is behind the killing of the other Autobots, Ill kill them. Although I dont condone the thought and action of murder, it shows how Optimus is sick and tired of the millennia of war that has been going on for hundreds of lifetimes. In the past movies you see him as stoic and unemotional about his fallen comrades. Ratchets death was the one that broke the camels back. Big highlights of the movie-Dinobots (they came a little too late into the movie in my opinion), personalities of the Cybertronians and the human cast, and another big fandom related note- For as long as I can remember, since the beginning of the live action movies, people have written fan fiction that Bumblebee was Optimuss adopted son in a way. In Transformers: Prime, its hinted throughout the series, albeit in small scenes. In AoE, Kade Yeager, the man that by fate gets sucked into the war, talks momentarily about his distaste of his daughters choice in a boyfriend, and how shes growing up too fast, if Im remembering correctly, and how he has struggles in pointing Tessa, his daughter, in the right direction. Optimus outright confirms that he in part, raised Bumblebee, and somehow, he had to go through the same thing, somehow, in Bee trying to stay away from bad influences. My sister, who sat right next to me, said, WHAT!? when the scene happened. With innocence in her wide eyes, she asks me, Bumblebee had a GIRLFRIEND!? The majority of the row behind us laughed. I seriously dont know how to answer that. Thank goodness for fan fiction though, though there is some I am not so sure I can even delve into for the content. Thats all I can say about that, to be honest.
