I saw the new Ninja Turtles movie tonight. I was... mostly satisfied. Splinter, Shredder and the turtles all get 10/10 for their performances. Megan Fox as April... 8/10... she wasnt a redhead and her hair was too long... Overall for the movie as a whole, I give it a 7/10. Why so high for the characters but only a 7 for the movie? Ill explain. But first I must say this.... SPOILER WARNING! The following will contain minor spoilers for the movie. You have been warned. Read on at your own risk. Im not going to give away major plot details, or anything. But I will explain the turtle origins, the ooze origins (movie called it mutagen) and the relationship between april and the turtles. First I will tell you how the original series did it, then how it was changed in the movie. Turtles Size and strength, originally they were between 56 and 510 and had slightly above average strength. In the movie they were almost 7 tall and had superhuman strength. They were able to toss an empty shipping container 30-40 feet... The mutagen... originally a man made concoction. Movie had it as extraterrestrial in origins. The turtle origins. Originally a vial of ooze washed down the sewer where the turtles and splinter came into contact with it. In the movie they were all lab experiments. Relationship with April... this is my biggest concern. Originally she happened upon them by mistake. But in the movie it turns out they were her childhood pets used in the lab experiments. Were the changes necessary? No. Were they acceptable? All but the relationship between april and the turtles. Thats why I give it a 7/10. Worth watching, but not buying. Rent it from redbox or download it or catch it on t.v.
