I saw these usually looking birds a few times during the Vietnam/Cold War era. It was always a visual treat and engaging to watch them land and take-off. I studied the tarmac example at the USAFM in Dayton and snapped a picture of the artwork on the fuselage. Upon detailed study of the EC-135 caricature, I concluded the artist must have known the airframe very well to capture the essence of the plane in such a humorous and accurate way. Much like my own experience with the AC-130. If youve had a chance to be close to a Boeing 707 derivative (KC-135, RC-135) the airframe/wing curves and sweeping lines are a masterpiece of beauty and engineering. in this example of caricature, the style and technique indicate a familiarity that is not casual. I call it great caricature. Too bad it wasnt executed with an airbrush. I recreated it in Adobe Illustrator for a future digital print or T-Shirt. Unfortunately, I could not make out the artists name from my photos.
