I saw two good movies this past week. One was Wild starring Reese Witherspoon. Its a true life adventure of a woman who walks the Pacific Crest Trail (300 miles) while trying to cope with her emotions and failures in life. Reese goes out on a limb with hardly any makeup, and not afraid to bare her soul (and a few brief shots of her body parts) while acting her ass off. Laura Dern does a superb job as her mother in many flashbacks throughout the movie. I highly recommend this film. The other film is Selma. Its a hard hitting look at Martin Luther King and his March On Selma. A great dramatization of his dealing with Lyndon Johnson and Johnsons dealing with George Wallace and Kings dealings within himself how he wanted to keep his march a peaceful one. Deep performances by David Oyelowo as MLK, Tom Wilkinson as LBJ, Tim Roth as Wallace and Carmen Ejogo as Corretta King. Oh yeah, Oprah Winfrey is in there as well (she is also a producer on this one along with Brad Pitt). Its a must see movie for history buffs and people who enjoy good writing and great performances.
