I seem to have a few friends who think I should run for President, or at least for something. However, I doubt I would attract too many followers. My platform would not be normal, in fact, might be considered a bit too extreme, because I tend to think differently, and more simply than the mainstream. If I were to lay out a so called “Platform” or basic ideas of how I see things, it would probably be like this: Energy: I believe the USA does not need to convert over to Solar, and Wind at the expense of fossil fuel. I believe the USA could benefit more by using ALL available forms of energy. I also believe the USA can produce all of the oil we need, and have surplus if we DO combine all forms of energy. Oil: If I were to ever become President, the first week in office, I would call OPEC and lay it out in simple terms, The USA buys 80 to 90% of OPEC’s oil, so I would offer a fair deal. We have been paying for the last few years about $100 a barrel, I would let them know that as of my call, we will now pay a fair price of $25 a barrel. If that is not satisfactory to OPEC, I will gladly let all of our ports know to turn all oil tankers back to OPEC, and leave it at that. I’m sure OPEC could find other places to divert their tankers, and all of their surplus oil. Lobbyists, and Campaigns. I would think the campaigns and lobbyists need to change. If I had my way, I would want more what our founders probably wanted, a leader who understood the people, not just the guy with the most money. SO no more lobbyists, no more campaign fund raisings. If we want the best people in Washington, then I would make it law that Every person who campaigns for an office has the EXACT same amount of campaign money, no more, no less, every party would have the exact same amount, the exact same amount of air time, the same in everything, no more wasting time on building up funds. Also, NO CAMPAIGN until 6 months before the election. We do not need leaders spending a year and a half out on the campaign trail and NOT WORKING for the people who elected them. ACA (better known as ObamaCare) I think a good part of the law is good for Americans. However, I do NOT think the Government forcing its citizens to purchase a Third Party Product is a good idea. I would strike down the Mandatory element right away, and find a way to retroactively get the 10 to 15 million people who lost a good plan that DID WORK for them to be able to get that plan back. I have always been under the impression if a product (ACA) is so good, it does not need to be forced upon people. Military: The USA needs to get out of all wars. The USA is not the world police force, leave that to the United Nations, (that’s the next item on the platform to be addressed) I think it is time to get out military out of Afghanistan, Iraq, and anywhere else that we are fighting for no clear reason. Our troops could be used for much better things. One area where our troops could be better deployed would be at our embassies. First off though, we need to determine where we even still need to have embassies. Why do we have them and what benefit do we get from having them. BUT, while we do have them in hostile countries, I think rather than a handful of guards, we need to place a sizable force, perhaps 1000 personnel, with more than adequate equipment to deal with a so called “rising mob angry over a video” Also, fully equipped to deal with a possible evacuation of all personnel if so needed. United Nations: As said above, the USA is not the world police, that is the United Nations job. Also, The USA does not need the United Nations, and I think they need to find … oh, say, a more modern building, perhaps somewhere outside the USA. I think their current building would make very good accommodations for our retiring military personnel who need a home to live in. The UN building has a nice view, and our Veterans deserve a good place to live. Aid, Foreign, I believe we should help out countries who like the USA, countries who support us. If they have needs, we should reach out, and help with what we can. I also believe that countries who are hostile to the USA, do not need our help. If they want to raddle swords towards us, fine, let them but we certainly do not need to send any more aid, be it money or food, same as if someone is nice to you, you feel like helping them, if someone spits in your face, it is time to stop helping them. Let the UN help those countries, from their new headquarters. Aid, Domestic, Again, I feel we should help our own FIRST. I know right now, the statistics say 1 in 7 people is receiving some sort of aid, and the number might even be higher. One of the first things to do, is find out why so many are on aid. Then FIX that problem. I know a lot of people need assistance, and we should continue that assistance, besides, got to Foreign Aid plank, we should have more than enough to help OUR people once we cut off the foreign people who hate us. Also, as stated, we can convert the UN building into beautiful apartments for our Veterans. Jobs, I do not believe that it would be good to jump the minimum wage up from $7 is, to $15 is a good move, not right now, not with the world economy still stagnant. However, as far as employers, and corporations shipping labor off shore, that will have to be dealt with. Number 1 on businesses going offshore, if they do, they will be treated as a foreign business, and will be subject to any and all tariffs, duties, and taxes that any other foreign business is subject to. Also, I don’t care if it “was” an American company, if you take your business off shore, and hire foreign employees; you are no longer an American company. Simple as that. If you want to be an American Company, there are 50 states where you can set up your business and hire people. Taxes, No, our tax system is not fair. Not for the reasons you may think, but because it simply is not equally fair across the board. My plan is a tiered system, starting with a 1% tax for the bottom, (the poor currently do not pay any tax, sorry, but its true, and not fair) to a top tax rate of 10%. However, that would be the rates, no deductibles, no exemptions, just a flat out 10 level tax system, where everybody pays. National Debt. NO more raising the debt ceiling. We have already given not just our kids, but our grand kids, and theirs, a debt that they can not pay. We should be a nation that takes care of our children, even if that means this current generation has to bite the bullet, and suffer so that our kids do not have to suffer. Yes, we may lose our current credit rating, SO WHAT? We enjoyed the benefits of raising our debt to 17 trillion, now it’s time to pay the piper, better us than pushing off on our kids. As you can see, no, I will never get a following for that platform, not at all. I hope at least some of it made sense to some people, but no, Im not electable with how I feel, and I also wouldn’t change how I feel just to be electable.
