I sent my DNA results to Dr. Doug McDonald (Professor of chemistry - TopicsExpress

I sent my DNA results to Dr. Doug McDonald (Professor of chemistry at the University of Illinois) and finally heard back from him today. He does BioGeographical Ancestry analysis of genomes for free. Basically, he uses statistical methods for determining where my ancestors came from. This is what he came up with: Southeast Asian: 54.0% (margin of error: ±3.6%) South Han Chinese: 21.4% (margin of error: ±3.5%) European: 24.6% (margin of error: ±0.1%) As for South Han Chinese, no surprise there. Most Chinese people in the Philippines come from Southern China, mostly from Fujian province. BUT, Im quite surprised at the large percentage for South Han Chinese, though! That cant be right? I think the next course of action would be to do DNA testing on both of my grandmothers and one of my late grandpas sisters to narrow down where this Chinese ancestry is coming from. Because, as far as I know, my Chinese ancestry comes from my mothers mother. For Southeast Asian, Malaysian and Cambodian keep on popping up under different analyses, that refers to my Filipino ancestry more or less, close enough. For European, German, Irish, English, and Polish pop up. The first three are right. But as far as I know, I have no Polish ancestry.
