I should NEVER look at gumtree....This really seriously distresses me :( This ad is everything that is wrong with selling dogs via sites like gumtree. And in addition everything that is going wrong with French Bulldogs as a breed in general. This person is lieing their ass off from the outset. Number 1; This poor puppy cannot be KC registered as Blue is NOT an acknowledged colour by the Kennel Club. Number 2; Cherry eye does not come and go. It is a condition that requires surgery. Especially when it is as obvious and sore looking as this. Saying that it is common in bulldogs is misleading (to put it mildly!!). This is a hereditary condition that effects many breeds, and is something that ETHICAL breeders are trying their best to breed out. Number 4; Still in the relation to the cherry eye issue, It is pretty down right disgusting of them to say it will do her no harm. Cherry eye is when the eyelids turn inwards, causing the eye lashes to rub and irritate the eye, hence the sore redness. It is incredibly uncomfortable for the dogs and leads to rubbing and secondary infections. It does not heal, it generally just gets worse. Number 3: They are asking a huge (but not exceptional, I have seen people charge up to £6000 for Blues} amount of money for a dog that once bought will NOT be able to be insured with anyone that will cover the cost for the surgery to correct her cherry eye, as it is a pre-existing condition. Therefor who ever buys her will have to fork out thousands more for the treatment she will need. Number 4; Stating that she has no endorsements means that they are more than willing to sell her on for breeding!!! These people are clearly just looking to make money no matter what, whether it is the worst thing for the dog or not. I am just sickened by this whole advert. I wish I had never looked, but cant un-see it. I wish I could save her, but there is no chance. I am going to forward it to Frenchie rescues in the slight hope they could advise me. So sad. I wish the sale of dogs and animals on these sites would be barred, though I know it would not wholly solve the problem of people using animals in this way.
