I sometimes try to imagine what Kurt Vonnegut was feeling when he - TopicsExpress

I sometimes try to imagine what Kurt Vonnegut was feeling when he was a POW and experienced the rain of fire at the bombing of Dresden. He was the object of scorn by the German civilians for being of one of the nations who erased their city. The screams, the stank of burned flesh, and the example of total war around them. The nazis had bombed cathedrals before, had laid waste to civilians in cities, and pursued a major war against the world, but the allies were supposed to stand in opposition to such crimes. The more I read of the history and the idea of exceptionalism, I cannot help but see just another empire bombing civilians and wondering why they are so hated.
