I spent some time arguing with somebody yesterday who is appalled by feminism. Showing at the same time the scars of some warped personal experiences and his complete misunderstanding of feminism tenets and goals he wants to oppose it to humanism. He thinks that being feminist means being against men, that it means to favour "a select few" (sic) instead of everybody, that being for women rights is like being a white supremacist instead of being for equal rights, that being feminist is taking from the one to give to another and that it just inverses the abuser and the abused, that feminism is men hating and self-serving and finally that I and my ilk cannot understand because like him we have not been at the receiving end of women abuse of power (no doubt alluding to some epic encounter with women having happened either in real life or his imagination). So as a result he finally said: "I am now unfriending you for your extreme leftist views which are no less destructive than the ultra-conservative views we see going around". Good.
