I spent the better part of today on a gorgeous solo hike up Burma - TopicsExpress

I spent the better part of today on a gorgeous solo hike up Burma road. I wanted to head north up Cache creek to try to find the Pennington mine but thought better about it since I was by myself and my phone was dying so I had no gps. Its hard to describe how beautiful it is out there right now. The greens and yellows of the moss and lichen that cling to the rock seem so much more vibrant against the gray sky. Surface water trickled down boulders underneath layers of ice. Looking down at the valley from the back side of Quanah mountain is now one of my favorite vistas in this area, and its not too much of a walk to get there. My favorite part was when I got to Quanah creek and just stopped and listened. For about a minute it was complete silence. There was no wind or wildlife rustling the leaves or grass. No sounds of air planes from Ft. Sill or cars from the highways. It was interrupted shortly afterwards by what I think was a flock of quail ( couldnt be sure because Im not nearly as smart as I think I am.) Anyway, I really couldnt think of a better way to start out 2015.
