I spoke on the condolence motion for Phil Hughes in the Federation Chamber today. I told the Chamber that while it will be small consolation for his family and friends, Hughes will live on in the folk lore of the game. Like Archie Jackson, another teen cricketing prodigy who died of tuberculosis at the age of 23 in the 1930s yet lives on in the imaginations of cricket obsessed ten year olds across the country, Hughes will hold a special place in the collective cricketing memory.
