I started out with a bird feeder. I have cardinals and ruby - TopicsExpress

I started out with a bird feeder. I have cardinals and ruby throated woodpeckers. Then I thought the squirrels were OK. Then came racoons and cats and armadillos and possums. There is a helluva lot of wildlife in my urban backyard. If it rains I get frogs and snakes. The neighbors cats seem to come by. All these creatures know me. I come home and theyre waiting for food. Ive even got the bugs sorted by where I place water and food in the yard (away from the house). I never see the mice but I see their poop in the garage. Mice are bad. I have to keep the cats kibbles up on a high shelf to keep the mice out. I think mice dont belong in my ecosystem, except as a food source for the other animals. I think this winter I should either stop putting bird food out or feed them in the park. I cant believe when I first came to Lawton we had snails and slugs. I never see those anymore. Theres no water for them.
