I started this page January 1, 2015, after thinking about all the memories I have of Franklin neighborhood. Carol Russell crossed my mine several times while sifting thru pictures I have stacked up in a drawer. I remember how much she loved this neighborhood, no matter what anyone else thought. Many would have considered us poor people that had nothing. They were so wrong. We had more than money could ever buy. Great family living close by, friends who we considered our family. Spending hours at each others house. Did not need much to entertain us. Softball at the castle or in the alley between fourth and fifth on Kentucky . The burn barrow was first base. Playing 500. Kickball in the street under the street lights as our parents watched from the porches. Hide n seek. You could never find everyone to many hiding places.when it was time to call it a night our parents would yell it time to go in now.we certainly had our share of tragedies in the neighborhood, our Franklin Family was right there for us. We also had great times as we can see from all the pictures, and all the comments that have been shared. Memories we all treasure. The only way we knew we were different as far as money when we started attending Jr. High.I see myself and others as rich. The memories, pictures, stories that we have and can not be bought. Now I understand why Carol was wanting to hang onto that last brick. She was not ready to let go of her richness. Thank you Carol Russell for reminding us of our inheritance, and keeping Franklin Neighborhood alive.
