I stepped on the clutch of my new Peugeot 406 and moved the gear - TopicsExpress

I stepped on the clutch of my new Peugeot 406 and moved the gear from three to four. Stepping on the accelerator, I glanced at the speedometer...1 20km/hr and rising...Mehn, this car is the bomb, I said to myself. I was enjoying myself. Suddenly, I saw a silver- coloured Toyota Highlander in my rear view mirror approaching with the speed of light. This jeep must not overtake me. I go show am say I be Knight Rider. 130...140...150...160km/hr. I was winning the race. But not for too long. The pot hole ahead of me appeared like a thief in the night. I tried to dodge it but lost control of the vehicle which started somersaulting. One...two...three...then everything went blank. When I opened my eyes it was to meet those of a young girl in a white gown. He is awake! she screamed and ran off. She came back a few minutes later with four men clad in white coats. Welcome back said one of the men that appeared to be the oldest, you were involved in a road traffic accident and have been unconscious for the past fifteen days. I tried to speak but could produce no sound. It felt like there was a long rod in my throat. Relax, said the doctor, a tube was inserted into your throat to help you breath while you were unconscious. You wont be able to talk until we get it out. I nodded. Jonathan, he continued can u raise your right hand? Raise my hand for what, I thought. But as I tried to oblige him, I noticed I could not feel my body and limbs. I felt like an astronaut floating in space with only his head intact. Go on. Move your hand. I could not. Ok, try moving your legs. Nothing! Then it dawned on me. I was driving too fast...on a Nigerian road...and my seat belt not fastened. What have I done to myself? How can I live the rest of my life in this condition?...(Story of a spinal injured person) Accidents dont just happen...they are caused. Drive safely and always fasten your seatbelt.
