I still dont know why we invest tons of money into underused railways, instead of starting to test this - because it runs on less energy, at 3 times the speed of a commercial airplane, thats right: 3 times, it is less invasive into nature (because the vacuum tunnel doesnt conduct noise) and safer because everything is packed into a tunnel. It is more economically viable if you do it with 4-people-shuttles rather than trains or airplanes which you need to fill up in order to run a profitable business. You dont need endless security checks, baggage drop-offs, baggage-pick-ups and you can start your journey when you need it for the same price as 1 day or 1 hour earlier or later. Its like taking a self-driving cab. Imagine how commuting will look like, you can work in Germany and live in Barcelona and commute for 1 hour. Long-distance relationship? Lets say a real long-distance relationships starts from more than 1 hour travel distance. Well, thatd about 2000 km. Or like she living in Bucharest and you in Bruxelles. You dont know how far those two are from each other? That distance almost spans the E.U. from East to West. Edit: by the way, this technology is long known. Check out: et3 for example.
