I stopped making posts about how great individual parties were a while back because theyre all great and I dont want to become boring. So many highlights, and so many lovely people all gathering to celebrate and support underground dance culture...... Its really humbling to be able to travel and share experiences that will stay with us for the rest of our lives. From Australia, to Dubai, Switzerland, France, England, Spain, Italy, Germany, Sweden, Denmark, Scotland, Russia, Lithuania, Belgium, Ireland, Canada, and of course The Crib. My Motherland The States..... its been an amazing journey of personal growth as a musician and a man, as well as an opportunity to increase my knowledge of the universal human experience. Being that I just returned from Washington DC playing for a true head party I must acknowledge the fact that when I walked into the club and felt the baby powder under my feet, I knew that I was amongst my kind. Everybody in the super diverse and ultra friendly crowd was a top notch dancer. For the first time since I started touring I played a party where the floor was facing away from me. All eyes were on the cypher (circle of dancers) doing their thing(s). From voguing, to wacking, and lofting to housing. These kids had it covered. In over 20 years I havent seen it done like that. It was truly impessive and for those who have never seen such a thing, I pray that you do at least once in your clubing career because youve not really seen the true essence of North American Underground Dance Culture until youve been to a party where baby powder is being employed..... and lastly, heres a small clip of what was both my welcome to and moving away from (Berlin) party. My first May Day. The only way it could have been any better was if Clara Stjärna would have been there with me. The whole event was a highlight, but having Alan Oldham smiling and vibing as he intently watched me execute a 7 plus minute mix was a career high. Its always humbling when the veteran heroes give love to and acknowledge the new school. AA x
