I suppose I should have some sort of emotional reaction to this, but MAN OF STEEL and their actual comics have just made me numb, as has the blatant imitation of the Marvel movies pattern. Of note: -Sooo...is the Flash going to be the one from TV, and will Ryan Reynolds be GL? If so, theyre weighing a LOT on that TV show before it premieres (though it looks good), and...making that GL movie into some kind of franchise starter? Aint gonna happen. Look, I like most of the guys who made it, and theyre on ARROW now, they done redeemed themselves in my eyes, Ive just had the same long rant about this movie for like three, four years now and *Im* sick of it. Almost as sick as making the same rants about MAN OF STEEL. -Boy, theyre REAAAALLLLY counting on the Supes/Bats movie to make everyone all excited about seeing the heroes introduced there, huh? Well, Im sure Zack Snyder will handle this well! -So, wait, the Bats/Supes movie ISNT the second MAN OF STEEL? Id try to parse this, but I dont care. -SHAZAM: Look, I wrote a Captain Marvel history a few years back in part as a retort to the dark and gritty stuff imposed on an innocent, imaginative hero for kids, and DCs efforts to make this work have just felt flat. I didnt even feel angry, just, Oh hey, theys a-tryin-a get that good Harry Potter money, and lets have a bunch of multiethnic Shazam orphans! and laughed crazily at Dr. Sivana going I CAN SEE MAGIC. So yeah, no faith. You can tell me youre making these movies, but show me something from them that seems good, some footage, some creative direction, then Ill be able to muster some emotion. But now its just a bunch of names and speculation spinning off from a movie that hasnt come out yet helmed by a director whose last few efforts made me want to drink myself to death, so I aint feelin it.
