I suspect a lot of vets will agree with some points in this editorial. The writer goes a little far on some things and obviously has little first hand knowledge of what he criticizes but its certainly fair to say that most vets these days are not heroes. I doubt that many vets see themselves as such anyway. I personally feel really awkward when someone thanks me for my service. I dont feel I suffered inordinately or gave up much. I joined and served for many reasons and defense of the country may even have played a small role. Nothing heroic about it.
