I suspect is the US will ground-attack ISIS (whatever that is), but perhaps a token Iraqi airforce will claim responsibility. This image is of an Airfix or Revel kit model of a high-speed, high altitude Soviet fighter (the Mig 21) designed to counter NATO strategic bombers in the late 1950s and 60s. Frankly, fast though the M-21 was (in the stratosphere) many WW2 era piston-engined aircraft would be better in a C21st ground-attack role against, say, ISIS. In brief, Iraq doesnt really have an airforce, but the simulacrum thereof will be used as a cover to US strikes against their ISIS friends, and hence (since ISIS are bound to retreat westwards into Syria), for US strikes against Syria per se .....
