I swear our elected officials try to make things difficult. They just want to propose things without any balance. Heres an idea: You want to raise the minimum wage? Fine. I dont have a problem with that. The argument is that raising the minimum wage will reduce the number of people on welfare and it will help stimulate the economy by putting more money in the pockets of consumers. Ill buy that. But heres the other side of the coin. Raising the minimum wage will put a burden on small businesses who are struggling to make it in a slow economy. That makes sense too. So why not raise the minimum wage while also offering tax breaks to businesses? The lost revenue from those tax breaks will be made up by the savings on welfare and the extra taxes collected on the extra purchasing power of those who are now earning a higher wage. Now that is an idea that satisfies both Dems and Reps. Its not that %$#!ing hard!
