I think Argentina have a problem. 1. ARG tried too hard to get the Fab Four on the field In midfield, ARG seem to have settled on a double 6, after playing terribly in the first round, just squeaking past Bosnia, Iran, and Nigeria. They tried a diamond and a 4-3-3 alignment, and only went to a double 6 the last 3 games. Mascherano and Biglia have only played together twice as the double 6. D also made a change in midfield after the Algeria game. But they went from one alignment to another. No experimentation, just from Plan A to Plan B. 2. ARGs stability is a result of injuries Here is kicker: ARG switched to the double 6 because of injuries Aguero and di Maria. When Aguero got hurt, they switched to the double 6 and stabilized. Di Maria got hurt and their double 6 switched from Gago to Biglia. 3. ARG need to decide who they are Is at all focus on offense and no midfield, or a more stable team and Aguero or Higuain on the bench? I would think that ARG will do everything to get di Maria and Aguero on the pitch. But will they be ready? For how long? Can they risk both at the same time? I think the final is too late to figure this out.
