“I think I’ve been feeling it out over the years, watching where other guys get in trouble with suspensions and then figuring it out in my own game,” he said. “That hit against Taylor Hall was a pretty safe hit to make. As far as when a guy is coming at you and you’re going at him — forward to forward — there’s so much more potential for problems to happen and that’s one thing I’ve kind of taken out of my game a little bit. “I think the risk is too high, as far as missing a guy, clipping a guy, injuring myself or injuring him with a big hit and a suspension. There’s so much risk involved in a hit like that. There are times it’s great — it can turn a game around, get the crowd into it.
