I think Madam Zille was smart in pulling off the Agang-DA - TopicsExpress

I think Madam Zille was smart in pulling off the Agang-DA coalition. Though farfetched, I suspect Dr Ramphele joined (or wanted to join) the DA some 2 or 3 years ago, but Madam Hellen had an even smarter strategy to ensure the DA fully capitalizes on the coup of the prominent thinker and indeed shrewd political commentator that the Doctor is (after Moeletsi Mbeki) for the supposedly “clever” blacks and “deceitful” whites. Agang has turned out to be a well-constructed thoroughfare for the “elite blacks” who identified with the ideas of Doctor to impeccably transfer (from the ANC) to their ultimate destination, the DA. Had the Doctor, in her own capacity, joined a few years ago, the DA would have gained members no more than a few of those who frequent the Doctor’s blogs and those who attended her seminars at the time, but the formation of Agang has increased her following exponentially, thus turning the Madam’s into a master plan. However, with the DA set to benefit so much, and the ANC bound to bleed a few potential voters again, it would be interesting to see how the DA shapes up its leadership, relaxes some of its policies to accommodate the incoming masses while protecting its founding ideals. This proved to be a difficult task of late causing internal conflicts on how the party should deal with things like BEE and many other policies that seek to redress the apartheid legacy. Will they DA’s hunger for success be the cause of its own demise, or will it rise above the conflicts to offer credible alternative to the defectors of ruling party? Can Dr Mamphele be trusted now that she has handed her own people into the hands of the “traditional enemy”?....You still have to admirer Madam Zille’s stealth though, Agang-DA translates to Build DA
