I think Mr. Netanyahu will love his place in my book... Remember, the year is 2024. “Hello my friends!” a voice from nearby called out. Malik and Mike both looked up to see a short and round olive skinned man with silver thinning hair approaching them. He was in a black three-piece suit and tie and he walked slowly with a cane and a pronounced limp. His own assistant, a tall, thin and grumpy looking man with beady brown eyes behind a pair of round silver framed spectacles was following with an armload of folders. Looking at the aging ambassador from Israel it was hard for Malik to imagine him a decorated IDF war hero. Still, one only had to look into his gray eyes that were presently glittering in the pleasure of friendly company, to see the young, determined, battle hardened warrior that still resided inside the aging form. He approached and extended his hand to Malik who in turn took it and shook it. “Ben,” Malik said with a grin. “How the hell are you?” “Old and falling apart, my friend,” he replied shaking Mike’s hand, “but still fighting on as I must.” He turned to his assistant and gave him some quick instructions in Hebrew. The taller man nodded once and took his leave to prepare the Ambassador’s desk within the meeting chamber. He turned back to Malik with a serious look on his wrinkled face. “I’ve come to warn you,” he said quietly while looking around to make sure no one else was within earshot, “the Americans intend to declare war against Texas today.” “What the hell?” Malik grumbled in disgust and put his fists against his hips. “Never a moment’s peace with these guys. What is it this time?” “They intend to use one of any number of reasons,” the old Israeli replied, “because this is actually a concerted effort on the part of the LN. I suspect it will have to do with the LN’s much vaunted environmental laws. They insist on bringing Texas under their rules and regulations one way or another so that they will be able to utilize Texas technological superiority, which has always been their main goal. Not to mention, you are also setting a bad example it seems. “Other countries, my own included, are beginning to see the benefits of maintaining absolute sovereignty and not bowing to LN regulations. This has become a direct attack against their plans to be the governing body of the entire world.” “We figured this was going to happen sooner or later,” Mike said with a sigh, “and using the country that hates us the most to be the catalyst became their excuse to set a number of other countries at us as well.” Ben Netanyahu nodded somberly then said, “A spot of bright news however. I have been tasked with telling you that if Texas calls for our assistance, we will send whatever forces and aid you deem necessary.” Malik put his hand on the old man’s shoulder and gave a gentle squeeze. “Thanks, Ben,” he said. “I’ll pass that along to the President.” With that, Ben shook each man’s hand again, wished him good fortune and made his way slowly to the meeting chamber.
