I think about my mother a lot at work. As I was peeling pears today for my soup. I remember her peeling pears for bottled pears and my favorite pear jam. I started thinking about summers at the Kelley home. I would go to the basement to retrieve the ball quart jars from the fruit room 6 at a time and schlep them up the stairs grumbling the the entire time. It certainly didnt stop at pears ;) BOTTLED : Cherries, Tomatoes, Tomato Juice, Tomato Sauce, Apple Sauce, Peaches, Beets, Green Beans, Pickles JAMS : Strawberry, Black Raspberry, Red Raspberry, Strawberry/Rhubarb, FROZEN: Corn, Red and Black Raspberrys, Strawberries, I would then schlep the full bottles back down the stairs to the fruit room grumbling the entire time. It is wonderful memories I cherish. And of course Delicious throughout the year. Which fruit am I forgetting family ?
