I think of free will as something that is there for the whole you, and not only for the ego (at a lower sub-consciousness level) to simply do as it pleases. Something that is combined with love. At a lower conscious level (=ego level), we dont have that perspective of what is best of us in life, and will therefore need the limits of ourselves personally to guide us on to the path of well-being, one could say. When we live like this, the ego feels its limits, and because of that will rethink his situation in order to reach well-being and true satisfaction in life. This is to grow and mature as a person.
