I think preschool teachers and day care teachers should be paid more than they are. Im going into the profession without caring about how much Im getting paid, but considering how much these teachers are doing for your kids, I think they should be paid their fair share. No one understands how MUCH observations have to be done. Teachers have to constantly remember and discover the childs abilities and use that information to help a child grow and develop. It seems like an easy job where you play with kids, but there is so much more that goes into being a preschool teacher that other people do not know. The thought that preschool teachers make around $25k-$30k a year seems a little sad considering they are helping guide children in the age range where development is the most crucial time of their entire life. Nothing is more important than a childs early life. How a child develops and learns in the early life impact their whole life as they grow up. So shouldnt the preschool teachers get better credit? (Obviously the schools would have to pick out teachers who are truly dedicated to taking care of children, and not finding an easy way out in their job). Those teachers are shaping the children throughout the day during preschool/daycare while the parents are unable to. Thats like having 6-10 kids of your own that you need to look after >.> Or having to take care of 4 infants--changing diapers and feeding and giving LOTS of attention, to 4 babies! I cant wait until I finish my degree and start working with children and making sure they grow up to be good kids.
