I think this is a prudent moment in American history to reflect on some of the ways in which our criminal justice system is still failing a large portion of our citizens. In no way does my upbringing or privilege allow me to make any assumptions about the culture of Ferguson, Missouri or to comment on some of the deep-seeded racial tensions in parts of the United States but I do know that the fight for equality is not over. There is still progress to be made, bridges to be built and triumphs to be had. My heart goes out to the people of Ferguson and I hope that everyone stays safe.
