I thought I could go a week without talking about food babe, but then this gem of a post came to light from Chow Babe and Science Babe. Introducing vani haris beliefs on wheatgrass. I sincerely wish I was making this up. This comes straight from her blog, What a Miracle Food- Wheatgrass, a post she wrote on 9/2/2011 while on vacation in Bali. Chlorophyll is the first product of light and, therefore, contains more light energy than any other element. -Chlorophyll is not a product of light. Or an element. And light energy is actually electromagnetic radiation. Humans cant use EMR for energy...plants can. And EMR from sunlight can actually be damaging to human tissue...ie skin cancer. Wheatgrass is high in oxygen like all green plants that contain chlorophyll. The brain and all body tissues function at an optimal level in a highly-oxygenated environment. -Two words: oxidative stress. Its believed to be involved in a myriad of diseases and the reason ANTIoxidants are so prized. Wheatgrass has what is called the grass-juice factor, which has been shown to keep herbivorous animals alive indefinitely. -Herbivores live forever if they eat wheatgrass. Forgive me if Im skeptical. Wheatgrass juice is an excellent skin cleanser and can be absorbed through the skin for nutrition. Pour green juice over your body in a tub of warm water and soak for 15 to 20 minutes. Rinse off with cold water. -And here Ive been wasting my time eating meals when I couldve just bathed in them! Theres plenty of other none-sense in the post, but I bring this up for a couple reasons. One: in a recent post defending herself, babe essentially said she wasnt in this for the money and she left financial security in the corporate world in 2011 to become a full time advocate. Yeah, scuba diving trips in Bali are the epitome of financial uncertainty. She also blasts any evidence contrary to her beliefs as paid for by corporate interests and therefor not trustworthy. As far as I can tell, however, she copied this list verbatim from a company website that sells wheatgrass. So business interests only bother her when it suits her. And last, the unbelievable ignorance it takes to believe these things. How can anyone get through high school and not understand what an element is? Or that plants use light for energy and animals dont? Its obvious babes PR team has cleaned up and toned down her more ridiculous ramblings in recent years, but to anyone who still follows this imbecile, this is the level of intelligence and understanding youre dealing with.
