I thought it might be interesting for those of you not familiar with our design process to see how designs can change as we work to develop and refine them. As illustration, these three images are of a project that I first posted in early September. The structure we are designing is a three season Summer House that provides for interior spaces not accommodated by the existing Yurt and open deck. Over the intervening 3 months the most obvious change is how the roof structure has been transformed dramatically from the first to the second image and then resolved itself to a place very similar to where it started in the last image. Also, if you look closely you might notice that weve moved the buildings position relative to the existing deck, changing the way one enters the Summer House and then exit to the ground. As you might imagine, many factors (simplifying construction systems and taking into account an aggressively sloped terrain to name only two) play into the how these refinements evolve. Im curious to know if you think were on the right path.
